That Awkward Moment

I don’t know if this is something I did before becoming acquainted with Greek and Latin rhetorical features but it’s something I definitely do now. Prolepsis a.k.a the Lilies of the Field construction.

Matthew 6:28 – And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin…

That’s probably my favorite Latin/Greek grammatical construction. In fact, I found myself writing an email to my former tutoring client and I had to correct my sentence so that it would not include that construction. I’m so excited for what this means for me as a Classicist.
